About Laxmi

Born in the village of Shertung in Dhading, Nepal, Laxmi has been passionate about art since childhood. She received her first art award at the age of 11. The following year she worked as a child journalist, serving as host and reporter for the ‘Sunau Bolau’ Radio Show for Sagarmatha. She published her first children’s book Little Mi Mi’s Magic Eyes in 2017.

She designed the book cover of Putali ko Ghar, the biography of the CNN Hero 2012 Pushpa Basnet and has illustrated many children’s books. She has conducted art workshops at the Fairfield Methodist Secondary School in Singapore. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Kathmandu University.

Laxmi works in mixed media and watercolor, exploring emotional topics and natural beauty of the earth. Her most recent series uses embroidery techniques using her own hair. She currently resides in the United States.
